Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role of LAPD blade runner Rick Deckard, who appears to have been on the run since the first film, alongside new lead Ryan Gosling, as LAPD Officer K,  and Jared Leto as Neander Wallace, a replicant manufacturer. Denis Villeneuve, who made the Academy Award nominated Arrival, is directing the sequel, which is due to be released this October. Ridley Scott, the man behind the original, will executive produce the forthcoming sequel, which also stars Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi, House of Cards’s Robin Wright, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Mackenzie Davis (The Martian). The director’s original film, set in a futuristic (and much wetter) Los Angeles, focused on Ford’s “Blade Runner” Deckard – a hunter tasked with terminating, or “retiring”, renegade humanoid androids known as replicants.

Based on Philip K Dick’s story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, it explored the unsettling boundary between humans and non- humans. The long- awaited sequel is set in the same world, several decades after the events of the original film.
